2010 FIRST AND FINAL RELIGIOUS PROFESSION.

The first religious profession took place on the 8th of September, 2010, at St. Paul’s Church, Utonkon. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Anthony Azinta, cmf, the Provincial Vicar. He was delegated by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Nwobi, who at that time was attending a meeting in Spain organized by the General Government for all the Major Superiors of the Congregation. Fr Charles Amadi moderated the first profession retreat. He also preached the homily of the first profession Mass. The candidates for the profession belonged to both the Province of East Nigeria and the West Delegation.  Fifteen novices professed for the East Nigeria Province.

September 12th 2010, being Sunday was historic and unique in the annals of the Claretian Congregation as she witnessed the Final Religious Commitment of Three of her students: Ibeka Valentine, CMF, Osuagwu Henry, CMF and Anadu Hilary, CMF. Upon the approval of the Trio by the Major Superior and his Council, preparations for the Final Religious Profession commenced with  the second Novitiate (GPF 420). Hence, our second Novitiate for the Final Religious Profession started at the Retreat Centre on 11th July, 2010 at Maryland Nekede, Imo State and was moderated by  Rev. Fr. Innocent Edoziem, CMF. The Second Novitiate lasted for two months with a lot of interesting experiences and sharing by the moderator and other resource persons invited by the moderator. This particular moment of Second Novitiate witnessed various activities such as: conferences, talks, workshops, and paper presentations delivered by some of our Claretian confreres and other resource persons. Some of the resource persons were: Frs Anthony Azinta, CMF,  Perpetus Igwe, CMF, Hilary Dachelem, CMF,  Marcel Onyeocha, CMF, Charles Amadi, CMF and  Srs. Charity Nwichi, DCPB, Neola Igbokwe, DMMM. It would be very nice to note that on August 15th 2010, eight sisters from Daughters of the Charity of the Most Precious Blood joined us for the same purpose. Indeed, the experience of the Second Novitiate was formative, educative, informative and above all enriching since the entire program for the preparation was integral covering spiritual, psychological, social, financial and other aspects of human development. Indeed, it is worth having. Our program for second Novitiate came to an end on August 29th 2010 and was then followed by the final segment of the preparation which was retreat for the final commitment.

Our retreat for Final Religious Profession commenced on 30th August, 2010 at the Staff quarters of Evan Enwerem State University (IMSU) and was moderated by Rev. Fr. Philip Anyaehie Ogbonna, CMF.  The retreat was centered on the following: Discovering of oneself, (self awareness), and Harnessing Our Psychic Energies for Human, Personal Maturity and development.

He equally stressed the importance of prayer in the life of a religious. The retreat lasted for five days with interesting life experiences and true life stories for edification and inspirations. Indeed, it was first of its kind for the Professandi.

September 12th 2010 being Sunday would ever remain indelible and memorable in the life of the Trio mentioned above. The celebration commenced at 10:00am with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Anthony Azinta,  (the provincial Vicar)  He was assisted by Frs Kenneth Oguejiofor, CMF, Provincial Prefect of Formation and Perpetus Igwe, CMF, Provincial Prefect of Spirituality. The Homilist was Rev. Fr. Perpetus Igwe, CMF and the summary of his homily was the Meaning and Implications of the Evangelical Counsels: Chastity, Poverty and Obedience. Really, he was practical as he admonished the Professandi to be committed to their final religious vows. Indeed, it was a nice celebration and thanks to God who made it so.
