FATHER GENERAL ASSIGNS BR. RICHARD SUTTLE, CMF, TO EAST NIGERIA PROVINCE FOR TWO YEARS.

Br. Richard Suttle has been assigned to East Nigeria Province for two years. According to his letter of appointment signed by Fr. General on the 9th of November, 2010, his appointment took effect on the 1st of December, 2010. Hear Br. Richard tell us about himself. “I was born in Selmer, Tennessee, USA, grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina where my father and mother still live. I am the middle child with a sister and brother older and sister and brother younger. I joined the Claretian Missionaries in 1979 in the U.S.A. West Province, since January we are one Province, the U.S. Province. I began my work as a youth director, campus minister and teacher in Prescott, Arizona. I then was selected as part of the team to begin the mission in the English speaking part of Cameroon where I was the manager of three schools and youth director, I also started children and youth choirs. I went back to the U.S. to Phoenix, Arizona where I was a teacher, counselor, administrator, coach and atheletic trainer at Bourgade Catholic High School for ten years. I went back to San Antonio, Texas where I was counselor and administrator at St. Gerard Catholic High School and Superior of the student community. I went to Los Angeles, California where I served as associate director of the mission office for the Archdiocese and director of Lay Mission helpers. I then was chosen to be part of the team to start the mission in Vietnam. I then went back to San Antonio to finish my Ph. D. in leadership studies which I did with a 2 year break to go back to Prescott, Arizona and work as the Principal of the School. I now come to Nigeria to collaborate in the School apostolate here. I am thankful to God and the Congregation for this opportunity.” Br Richard is a member of the Provincialate community. In the next school year he will direct the Claret Secondary School, Nekede

 

5TH CONSECRATED LIFE WEEK (5CLWK2010)

This event took place from Wednesday 1st December to Friday 4th December 2010

The theme was: Obedience, Authority and Freedom. It took place at the Claret House of Studies, Attakwu, Enugu

First December was arrival day for all the participants from different parts of Nigeria. There were 12 different religious Institutes and 27 participants represented in the 5CLWK2010. We had also some Claretian theology students and other students from three religious Institutes studying in SIST who were present. This is the breakdown of participants: 13 Sisters, 6 Brothers, 5 Priests. There were three resource persons.
Seconday day was for the paper presentation on Obedience, Authority and freedom in the Sacred Scriptures by Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, there was also Discussion /workshop. The second presentation was on consecrated Obedience and its implications in our life by Sister Janet Nwaokpo, HHCJ.

On the third day the presentation was on Service, Mission and Consecrated Obedience, by Brother Boniface Chima Onwujuru, FMS. Later in the day the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria Most Rev. Augustine Kasujja visited our community and the participants. Other contributions including that of Fr. David Okeke, CMF were also entertained. Before the concluding session there was an evaluation of the three days programme.

Forth December was departure date. The 5CLWK2010 was very involving and intensive in every aspect. Lots of discussions and contributions were held.
The theme for 2011 Consecrated life Week will be based on Community Life, Communion and Service.
